Asher, G. W. (1993) Observations on the gestation length of European, Mesopotamian and hybrid fallow deer.
Fallow Deer Farming, Proceedings.
Analysis of gestation length data for a number of fawn genotypes, including European, F1 Mesopotamian hybrids and various back-cross hybrids. The main conclusions reached were that average length of fallow deer of various genotypes ranges within 232-235 days, with gestation of F1 Mesopotamian hybrids notably shorter than this length, and also displayed greater variation in gestation length.

Pearse, A.J.T. (1991) Optimal velvet antler production in wapiti and red deer
Breeding and sire selection of the basis of velvet antler yield at 2 years of age and relationship between increasing liveweight and velvet antler yields to improve cash returns are examined. Hybridization between red and wapiti substantially improved both yields and velvet antler quality. Simple routine management techniques for removal and storage of velvet ensure that the product can be processed to the qualitystandards required by the oriental medicine market
