It’s official, we’re back!
After a great first event in 2024, the SCNO Young Deer Farmer Competition is returning to Peel Forest Estate on Friday 9 October hosted by the South Canterbury North Otago Branch.
It’s a chance for young people in the deer industry to put their practical skills and knowledge to the test, meet others in the industry and have a bloody good day while they’re at it. And, if you don’t know, learn something from the professionals!
Whether you competed last time or are keen to give it a crack for the first time, keep an eye on this page.
Think you’ve got what it takes to be the 2026 SCNO Young Deer Farmer?
There’s over $6,000 up for grabs at the 2026 SCNO Young Deer Farmer Competition, including cash, scholarships and DINZ Conference packages for the top three competitors!
🥇 1st place: $2,500 cash + $1,500 scholarship
🥈 2nd place: $1,000 cash + $500 scholarship
🥉 3rd place: $500 cash
There will also be plenty of surprise spot prizes up for grabs on the day.
Open to eligible young deer farmers aged 18 to 26
Entries will be opening soon, so start thinking about whether you’ve got what it takes and tag someone who should give it a crack!
