Understand your Soils and Manage Your Nutrient Inputs
Understanding what is going on beneath your feet and how you can best manage the microbes, soil properties and nutrients that are beneficial for soil health, plant growth and therefor animal performance is important to ensuring all aspects work well together.
The workshop will cover off how to undertake a visual soil assessment, how to create your own nutrient plan and understand the risks to freshwater from nutrients as well as do a freshwater health assessment. You will leave this workshop with some real practical tools and resources you can use in your own business.
This workshop builds on the information from the farm mapping and biodiversity workshop, you don’t need to have attended that workshop to come to this one – you will get a quick intro to farm mapping at the start of the workshop to enable you to partake.
DINZ have partnered with MyEnviro and are offering complementary workshops to members wanting to grow their knowledge and management of farm resources and demystify farm planning. Workshops will focus on taking farmers on a learning journey and creating a resource management plan that can be used for Farm Environment Plans or towards NZFAP Plus accreditation.
This workshop is possible thanks to funding from the Ministry for Primary Industries.
