Deer farmers can now get direct support to develop or review farm plans, to meet compliance requirements and ensure strong systems for their farm management.
What is Farm Planning?
Farm planning encompasses many areas of farming, including climate change, freshwater management, animal welfare, biosecurity, and people management. Many of these plans can be created and stored online or in a folder in your office, some are in the shed and there are many that might just be in your head.
Having written or digital plans enables you to keep on top of your business performance and progress it as you can when you identify areas of high risk, for change, or a need to report for compliance or certification purposes.
How can DINZ help me with farm planning?
We’re aiming to fill the gaps between the resources provided by regional councils and local groups, and what you, our deer farmers, have already established on your farms. Through our funding we have 3 main channels for you to get involved.

- Workshops – We are running tailored workshops that fit your local DFA, advance party or regional needs to help you get what you need! The workshops offered range from animal health or parasite management through to freshwater farm plans or even winter grazing or pest and disease management. Whatever you need, let us know so we can deliver the right event, in the right place at the right time.

Where is the funding coming from?
Deer Industry New Zealand is a recipient of the Integrated Farm Planning Acceleration Fund from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). This fund must be used by March 2026.
